  • Keli can help with various problems by supporting and teaching problem-solving and coping skills. Therapists are neutral, so I can give you a new or different way to look at a problem you've been having. The benefits of therapy rely on how ready and willing you are to change. Some of the benefits can include:

    • Boosting your self-confidence or self-esteem

    • Improving your communication skills

    • Learning or finding new ways to deal with difficult situations

    • Getting to know yourself better

    • Breaking old habits and making new ones

    • Rapidly improving intense emotions like sadness, anger, guilt, shame, or other tiresome feelings

    • Sudden insights (Aha moments)

    • Cognitive (thought) reorganization

    • Calm and relaxed feelings in your body

    • New creative ways to adapt to our present world

  • Are you asking how long therapy will take because you struggle and want relief fast? If this is true for you, I want you to know that, on average, Keli’s new clients start seeing improvements more quickly than they thought was possible. After several sessions, they feel more hopeful that healing is possible.

The length of therapy varies from client to client. It depends on many factors, such as your goals, how often and consistently you attend therapy sessions, how much you want to change, and what concerns or problems you are working on in therapy. Some clients find 12-16 weeks to be enough to resolve immediate challenges. Recent stresses or issues can be solved in fewer meetings than problems going on for a long time or involving trauma or abuse.

Therapy is a team effort, and Keli encourages you to tell her what you want. Long-term goals can be worked on in "chapters" if you like.

  • Most therapy sessions last for about 50- 55 minutes. Some clients come in for “intensive treatment, " lasting two to four hours. The intensive treatment is generally for EMDR and must be arranged directly with Keli and in advance.

    1. If you use Aetna, United Health Care, or Oscar, Keli can bill your insurance company directly. She will send you a link for her biller, and you will provide your insurance information and a credit card on that portal for any co-pays.

    2. If you use your out-of-network insurance benefits, please click here.

  • To avoid being charged for sessions, you cannot attend, please cancel your session at least 48 hours before your scheduled therapy session. You can cancel your sessions by telling Keli during one of your sessions, or you can log into your client portal anytime and easily cancel and reschedule your sessions there.

  • During our first therapy session, I'll want to learn about your life, struggles, successes, family of origin, and current and past relationships that may impact who you are today. I want to know about big “T’s” (significant traumatic events). Also, the universal small “t’s (events rampant through childhood like humiliation, fear, a sense of helplessness, or ongoing situations of distress). You may not know what your small “t’s” are when we begin to work together, and that is fine.

You’ll also have time to ask me any questions you’d like. I will give you honest answers and feedback.

We'll talk about your goals for therapy and what you hope to achieve during this process. You deserve to get the healing you want and continue to move toward meeting your therapeutic goals.

Therapy with me is about working together to achieve your goals and create the desired healing and transformation. You can ask me questions at any time during our session. You might be curious about how I can help you once I get the details of your current situation and goals. The most important part of the first session is to notice how you feel during and after our session. I hope you will feel heard, comfortable, unjudged, and safe.

You may be wondering-

  • Take your time to read through my website. If you sense that I may be a good fit based on your reading, you can schedule a free 15-minute video consultation. We can discuss my approach during our call. You’ll also be able to share what’s going on for you, and I can share my ideas about how I can help you and how I’ve helped others like you.

It may be helpful to think of the first few sessions as trying the waters together. During the sessions, you’ll be able to see how you feel working with me. My approach is not going to work for everyone. Most important to me is that you find someone you think is the right fit for you. We can explore that together.

  • Therapy can be vulnerable and new, so nervousness is natural. It can be scary to think of opening up or crying in front of someone new, perhaps fearing that it will be awkward and uncomfortable. The fear around that can feel overwhelming. It takes courage to start going to therapy. The fact that you are on this website, looking for help, and reading this right now shows that you are brave and seeking help. When you have therapy with me, I’ll provide a space where you can be yourself and welcome all of the feelings you might have, including feeling nervous. I’m committed to finding a way to care for your nervousness and ensure sessions are as comfortable as possible.

  • If something feels overwhelming or even terrifying to discuss, that’s normal. It can often feel difficult to talk about some things. During our sessions, you never have to discuss something you’re uncomfortable disclosing. I’ll guide you toward discovering what you feel comfortable sharing with me. Together we’ll work at a pace that feels good for you, and we can look at the tough stuff when you’re ready.

You can also tell me that you are nervous about opening up about something, and we can talk about that too. Whatever is present for you. Whatever you are going through. Bring that to our session, and we can explore it together.

  • If you open up to me, I will not think you are a terrible person; I will assume you are courageous and strong. Many of my clients have had the same fear. I know what you are going through is common through decades of working with people like you. You’re a good person. Nothing you can say will cause me to judge you or think you are a terrible person, even if you’ve done “bad” things. Every person has done something “bad” in their life. I know that may be hard to believe right now, but you’ll discover I’m open and non-judgmental after working with me.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses and suffer in different ways. Everyone does the best they can with the skills, knowledge, and internal resources they have. Whatever you’re going through, I provide a safe space where you can feel heard and supported without judgment.

  • It can be worrying that something you say in therapy might get out into our close-knit community, so you should know that unless you are suicidal, harming yourself, or someone else, what you say in sessions stays between you and me. I highly respect your privacy and value your trust. You can rest assured that you can talk about anything without fear of that information getting out.
